The District 41 Facilities Task Force
Facilities Task Force OFFICIAL FINAL REPORT - 4/25/2016
Over the years, District 41 has been presented with a number of challenges related to school facilities. Starting in 2001, 32 portable classrooms were installed throughout the district and were in use until 2014 when portables at the elementary schools started to be replaced with new classroom additions. All portables at the elementary schools are in the process of being replaced. Ten portables will remain at Hadley.
In addition, for more than 10 years, the Board of Education and district administration have been evaluating school building facilities and exploring ways to improve physical spaces in order to meet the educational needs of the students. For example, this past year, the district has been exploring the possibility of adding full-day kindergarten.
In February 2015, the Board of Education directed the administration to obtain feedback from the community on the future of a facilities recommendation through a facilities community task force. This task force will study district school facilities needs as related to Board priorities and will present a report to the superintendent who will make a recommendation to the Board. The report will be used to inform the decision making process.
The district administration will support the Facilities Community Task Force internally. Superintendent Paul Gordon and Chief Communications Officer Erika Krehbiel will serve as resources to the process.
