D41 Special Education Services
Glen Ellyn School District 41 offers a full continuum of special education and related services to students found eligible for special education. To the maximum extent appropriate, each child will be educated with children who are not disabled. The district strives to have all children educated in their home school and embeds inclusive practices into all our schools. Special classes, separate schooling, or other placements by which students with disabilities are removed from the regular education environment should occur only if the student's Individual Educational Program (“IEP”) team determines that the nature or severity of the disability is such that education in a regular classroom setting, even with the use of supplemental aids and services, cannot be achieved satisfactorily.
Resource
Resource services meet students’ needs who require 50% or less of their day in special education and participate in the general education program for the majority of their day. Services can take place inside (“push-in” support) and outside (“pull-out” support) of the general education classroom. Students have a greater opportunity for continuity of instruction and involves two or more licensed professionals who share instructional responsibility.

Educational Accommodations and Supports
Glen Ellyn School District 41 implements a wide variety of accommodations based on individual student needs. Accommodations can include changes in the presentation of information, a change to the way a student has access to respond to information, changes to the educational environment, and time parameters. The accommodations are necessary in order for a student to have equal access and equal opportunity to access his or her education and to demonstrate what he or she knows without reducing learning expectations. The determination of necessary accommodations will be made by the IEP team. -
