Umbrella Subcommittees
Student Services Subcommittee
The purpose of the Student Services Subcommittee is to build relationships and encourage dialogue across stakeholder groups around supports and services for students who need differentiated learning. This group will work together to better understand the District 41 Inclusionary Principles, Multi-Tiered System of Supports, Evaluation Process for Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and for Individual Education Plans under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act as well as the Continuum of Services offered in District 41. Participants on the Subcommittee are asked to help promote and support academic excellence and social emotional well-being for all members of the D41 school community regardless of their background, differentiated educational needs, race, class, or other affiliation.
The work of this subcommittee will be advisory and is not intended to promote only one area of disability or educational need, any one specific instructional methodology; or serve as a venue for expressing complaints that should be brought through appropriate administrative channels defined by current state and federal law. Rather, purposeful dialogue for all students to be successful will help to expand opportunities for all members of the D41 school community.
Goals of the Subcommittee
- Facilitate collaboration and encourage dialogue related to supports and services for students who need differentiated learning within District 41.
- To help D41 stakeholders better understand D41’s inclusionary principles, multi-tiered system of supports, and the evaluation process relating to 504’s, IEP’s, and ISP’s.
- To promote and support academic excellence and social emotional well-being for all students within D41.Membership Membership will include 11-13 members, which includes one Board member. The Assistant Superintendent of Student Services will attend each meeting and the Superintendent will attend as many meetings as possible.
Membership details include: 1 Assistant Superintendent of Student Services 1 Director of Student Services 1 Principal 1 Assistant Principal 3-4 Parents 3-4 Staff (could include the Special Education Coordinator and/or a Paraprofessional) 1 Board Member CASE Member

Appointment of New Members The district will accept applications for committee members annually. The committee would start meeting during the 2022/23 school year.

Replacement of Members To fill vacancies after annual applications and appointments have been made, the district will seek names of citizens to be considered for membership and screen applicants in accordance with the various parameters set forth above. In filling unexpired terms, the replacement process shall proceed with all deliberate speed.
Language Subcommittee
JOIN THIS SUBCOMMITTEE
Participants of this committee will be stakeholders who are invested in developing student bilingualism, biliteracy, and biculturalism.
Goals of the Subcommittee
- The purpose of the Language Programs Subcommittee is to encourage dialogue about the value of acquiring an additional language, understanding D41 language program pathways, promoting the value of diverse cultures and languages, and providing a venue for addressing stakeholder wonderings.
- This committee will also act as a voice for the D41 Language Programs in order to accurately communicate programming descriptions, initiatives, and updates to other stakeholders.
Membership
Recommended membership includes the following representative stakeholders:
- 1 D41 Building Principal who works closely with language programs
- 1 D41 Assistant Principal who works closely with language programs
- At least 1 teacher representing each of the language programs:
Dual Language/HA World Language
ESL (English as a Second Language)
FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary School)
- One parent representing each of the language programs (all parent participants must have children currently enrolled in District 41):

FLES (Foreign Language in Elementary School)
At least 1 BPAC member (Bilingual Parent Advisory Council)

Equity Subcommittee
JOIN THIS SUBCOMMITTEE
The purpose of the Equity Subcommittee is to build relationships and dialogue across stakeholder groups around equity. This group will work together to better understand the barriers and opportunities in promoting and supporting academic excellence and social emotional well-being for all members of the D41 school community regardless of their background, circumstance, race, class, or affiliation.
Goals of the Subcommittee
The work of this subcommittee will help inform an action plan going forward that will remove identified barriers and expand opportunities for all members of the D41 school community.
Membership
The Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Accountability will attend each meeting. When selecting from the applicants, to the greatest extent possible, members will be chosen to reflect a diverse representation of stakeholder groups. Community members must currently have students in the district in order to serve on the Equity Subcommittee.

Community Advisory Subcommittee
JOIN THIS SUBCOMMITTEE
The Community Advisory Subcommittee is a group of individuals who represent the District 41 stakeholders. The committee engages in dialogue around topics related to what is best for all students. The committee will provide feedback directly to the Superintendent. The committee is a part of the District’s commitment to collaboration, communication and engagement with the community.
We seek a cross-section of opinions and educational perspectives with a general ability to work constructively with others. More than 78% of District 41 households do not have school-aged children in them and those households also should be represented on our committee.
Goals of the Subcommittee
- Facilitate collaboration and communication related to educational affairs between the school district, each school community and stakeholders within District 41.
- Study issues and answer questions related to public education that are of concern to the five communities served by District 41 (Glen Ellyn, Glendale Heights, Carol Stream, Wheaton, Lombard)
Membership
Membership will include no less than 15 members, which includes one Board member. The Chief Communications Officer will attend each meeting and the Superintendent will attend as many as possible.

4 Community Members At-Large
1 Board Member
