Referendum Construction Groundbreaking
April 3, 2018
Thanks to community support and a lot of collaboration and hard work, District 41 is now beginning the referendum construction approved by the community a year ago. We broke ground April 3 at Hadley Junior High with Board members, Village of Glen Ellyn officials, representatives from FQC and Wight & Co. along with community members, staff and students. These projects, to be completed over the next 18 months, will eliminate the remaining portables, improve safety and address infrastructure needs. The majority of the work through summer 2018 takes place at Hadley and Churchill Elementary School. All schools will be impacted by construction through the fall of 2019.
The referendum construction projects began over spring break (late March 2018) at Hadley Junior High School. The majority of the work through Summer 2018 takes place at Hadley and Churchill Elementary School. All schools will be impacted by construction through the fall of 2019. Phase 1 of construction is the removal of the four portable classrooms at Hadley (the southern units) to prepare the location of the new addition. The northern six portable classrooms remain until the summer of 2019 when the addition is complete.
The approved 2018/19 School calendar allows for maximum construction time. Some activities at the beginning of the 2018/19 school year, especially Hadley and Churchill, may be effected. Each school will share event and activity details with parents as soon as that information is available. We thank our community in advance for their cooperation during these District 41 construction projects. The improvements will enhance all of our facilities and better support student learning.
