    Kindergarten Center
For more information about Kindergarten including K registration, please contact Alejandra Ponce

Next school year, District 41 will offer full-day kindergarten to all families at no additional cost in the new Kindergarten Center located on the campus of Churchill School, 240 Geneva Road in Glen Ellyn. Families that do not choose full-day kindergarten will follow the current half-day model.

Kindergarten registration is a two-step process this year.

    Step 1 - Preregistration (November 2024)
The preregistration form should have been completed if your child is going to be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2025. The information provided on the form is essential in helping inform decisions about kindergarten for next year.

Step 2 - Registration in Skyward Family Access (January 2025)
Registration in Skyward Family Access for kindergarten will open in January. This step must be completed in addition to preregistration.

Please note: The below information is subject to change.

    Programming
The full-day program will include extended time in core subject areas. Families that do not choose full-day kindergarten will follow the current half-day program.

    Location
The location of full and half-day kindergarten classes is  dependent on enrollment. The plan is for full-day classrooms to be located at the Kindergarten Center.  Half-day kindergarten will be located at the homeschools unless enrollment numbers require the district to combine students from different schools at one location.

    Student/School Groupings
Students who attend kindergarten in the Kindergarten Center will be in classrooms with students from a mix of the elementary homeschool attendance areas. The district will work to place clusters of students in classrooms with peers that will move on with them to their home elementary school.

    Transportation
Transportation will be provided to families that qualify for busing. In addition, transportation will be provided to the Kindergarten Center for the full-day program in one of the following ways:

    • Bus from homeschool to Kindergarten Center

    • Bus from home neighborhood to Kindergarten Center

    • Mix of both above

*Note: Final decision on this process has not been made.

    Start and End Times
Start and end times at the Kindergarten Center will be staggered from the rest of the elementary schools. The exact times have not been finalized.

    Standard school day is 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
Staggered start/end times possibilities for kindergarten:
    8:15 a.m. - 3:15 p.m.
    8:45 a.m. - 3:15 p.m. (shortened day)
    8:45 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

    Staffing
In addition to current kindergarten staff, the Kindergarten Center will include a designated principal, administrative assistant, school nurse, and custodial staff.

    Kindergarten Center Facility
The Kindergarten Center building will be attached to Churchill School and will include 12 classrooms, flex spaces, separate secure play area for kindergarten students, mass grading, stormwater detention, parking lot, curbs & drives, and building footings.
