The Language Programs Department aims to ensure that all linguistically diverse students receive a quality education that enables them to succeed academically, close the achievement gap, and attain proficiency in English and Spanish within a culturally supportive environment.
The ESL program supports English Learners in acquiring English language proficiency and skills necessary in the areas of reading, writing, listening and speaking. The goal of this program is English language development.
The Dual Language is a form of bilingual education where students are taught literacy and academic content in two languages (English and Spanish). The goal of this program is bilingualism and biliteracy and bicultarism.
The FLES (Elementary) and World Language (Junior High) programs give students the opportunity to learn a second language during the optimal years of language acquisition. The programs support all students in becoming bilingual, biliterate and bicultural. The goal of these two programs (FLES & World Language) is Spanish language development. NOTE: Junior High Students in 7th & 8th grade may choose French instead of Spanish.
