The D41 Elementary general music department strives to instill a love of music for your child. We use various methods to ensure a well rounded music experience. We meld Koday, Orff, and Dalcroze styles to provide variety for students. We offer a 4th and 5th grade combined extra curricular chorus, which performs at various venues throughout the year. Our goal is to build a strong musical foundation for students, which can prepare your child for further musical study. Students will experience a variety of musical opportunities, including introductory guitar, recorder, pitched and unpitched percussion; in addition to developing vocal abilities.
Welcome to the D41 Orchestra Program (www.d41orchestra.org), where playing a stringed instrument begins an exciting new journey in life! Performing a musical instrument changes and enhances learning in so many beneficial ways. Here in D41, orchestra is an integrated part of our school district, winning district and state competitions with the highest honors year after year. Children grow and develop to become young musicians who later develop into skilled musicians by the 8th grade. Our orchestra program creates a sense of family and promotes a friendly, fun environment for our children. We learn and perform, striving for excellence, together as a team. If you have any questions about the 5th Grade Orchestra Program, please contact Ms. Rita Feuerborn, D41's Elementary Orchestra Teacher.

Welcome to the Glen Ellyn District 41 Beginning Band Program, the starting place of the School District's outstanding band program.
The Beginning Band program encompasses students from all four elementary schools, where they learn to play woodwind, brass and percussion instruments. Students learn the very basics in 5th grade band, including instrument assembly, note reading, correct sound production, breath control, articulation and how to play together as an ensemble. The first squeaks and honks of a beginning player will give way to a capable musician within a few short months. Those 5th grade musicians will continue on into the Junior High band program, recognized for it's excellence at the Illinois Grade School Music Association District and State Festivals.
Our goal in Beginning Band is to provide a safe place to learn while giving students confidence to tackle challenging tasks, and to carry that confidence into other areas of their academic careers. Being in band can provide a student with a means to grow musically, socially, and academically. Communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity are "constants" in our band classes.
If you have any questions about the beginning band program, please contact Mrs. Elle Pressly.
