Solar Connection was launched at Hadley’s all-school “Solar-Bration” on May 27, 2003 during which BP representatives demonstrated some of the features of the system.
Hadley Junior High School is one of a handful of schools in the Chicago area chosen to participate in BP Amoco's Solar Connection, a renewable energy education program which includes the installation of power-generating solar panels on Hadley's roof and a complete solar curriculum.
Science students will use the solar energy panels and materials to learn about the benefits of clean energy. Live data will let students monitor the power-generation performance of the system, and help them understand solar power. Beyond the system itself, the new, specially developed renewable energy curriculum developed for the Solar Connection program offers students projects and lessons designed to help them explore the science and benefits of today's renewable energy sources. |
