A memorial service in celebration of the life of former Churchill teacher Susan Hodkinson will be held Saturday, Aug. 19, 11 a.m. in the Glenbard West High School Auditorium, 670 Crescent Blvd., Glen Ellyn. The service will be followed immediately by a reception in the Boat House at Lake Ellyn Park. Sue passed away July 17 due to cancer. During her 18 years with Glen Ellyn School District 41, she worked in many buildings and on many different committees and projects.

Her colleagues and former students and their families will miss her warmth, originality, professionalism and the spirit of delight in learning that she brought to school every day. Those who attend the service are encouraged to bring favorite photos or mementos of Sue to post on photo boards. Sue's wish was to have a reading gazebo built on the property of Churchill School for students, staff, and families. In lieu of flowers, donations in her honor to the reading gazebo will be accepted; for details on where to send donations, please contact Karen Stebel, 668-4669.
