Hadley New Horizons Town Hall meeting June 10
Posted May 27, 2008

Parents and community members are invited to an informal Town Hall-style meeting to learn about the Hadley New Horizons project. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, June 10, 7-8 p.m. in the Hadley auditorium. System-wide improvement efforts are underway at Hadley Junior High with the help of nationally known middle-level education expert Dr. Ron Williamson. The goal is to improve the Hadley experience—academic, social and emotional—for all D41 students. Guiding principles are that improvements need to spring from an understanding of what the research says works with this age group and supports a healthy school culture. Recommendations for change should respect the fundamental importance of instructional time and strive to support a cohesive, productive school day that provides the setting in which all students can succeed. The recommendations will go through the district’s decision making process, which may involve consideration by one or more of the Teams For Excellence and review and action by the Board of Education.

PLEASE COME TO LEARN MORE!
Children now in grades 4 and under will experience the improvements that the HNH work produces. You’ll hear about proposals affecting:
• Course offerings including Band and Orchestra, Core Extensions and Academic Support.
• Time and organization of the school day including start and dismissal times and a possible "zero-hour" option.
