Posted May 3, 2006

Dr. Ann RiebockThe community is invited to a free concert, "From Sea To Shining Sea," performed by the Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale with selections by the children of the Glen Ellyn Resource Center. The Resource Center provides after school programs for about 50 eligible children in Glen Ellyn School District 41, many of whom are English Language Learners. The concert will be held on Thursday, May 18, 6:30 to 7:15 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church, 41 N. Park Blvd. in Glen Ellyn. Among the songs are "America The Beautiful," "Shenandoah," "Georgia On My Mind," and many others.

The Chorale, directed by Greg Wheatley and accompanied by Jeri Kellan, is an adult chorus affiliated with the Glen Ellyn and Wheaton Park Districts. During its concert season, it performs a wide variety of music. "This is a great chance for our kids--and their families--to experience music, practice English and learn about American culture," said Resource Center Director Joel Jara. “I believe this event will be a great enriching experience for the children.”
