Participants sought for District 41 Vision Project
Posted May 10, 2008

The Glen Ellyn School District 41 Board of Education will soon be hosting its 2008 Vision Project. It is seeking participants from a wide range of stakeholder groups, including parents, senior citizens, members of the business community, civic leaders, members of the clergy, and parents of preschoolers, to name some. Employees of the District will also be represented. The current Vision was last refreshed in 2004, a process that resulted in a Strategic Focus that includes a Vision, Mission, Values and Key Objectives. The District is recruiting participants two ways—by sending invitations to individual community members, and by extending a general invitation to the community. “The main thing is to have participants who have a genuine interest in the future of our children, and who understand that schools affect the whole community,” said Board of Education President Terra Costa Howard. Participants will be working in small groups over the course of the three evenings. Among the questions they will be considering are: What are the trends in education and society at large that we need to be aware of? What skills will tomorrow’s employers be looking for? What can we to do today to best prepare our students for the future? "We have a great interest in listening to our community as we think about the future of this district and the future trends for education and the workforce," said Superintendent Dr. Ann Riebock.

Date, Time and Place: The Vision sessions will be held from 6-9:30 p.m. at the Lake Ellyn Boathouse on May 28, June 9 and June 17. It’s important for participants to be present at all three sessions.

To RSVP: Those who would like to be part of this important work, and are able to attend all three sessions, are asked to RSVP by calling (630) 534-7643, or by emailing Vision@d41.org Participants will receive a packet with more detailed information, including the agenda for each session.
