Shannon Cross named Principal of Abraham Lincoln School
The Glen Ellyn School District Board of Education has approved the appointment of Shannon Cross as principal of Abraham Lincoln School effective immediately. Shannon joined the District last year as Lincoln’s Assistant Principal. 'Shannon has done an outstanding job as assistant principal and is well-prepared to be principal of Lincoln School,' said Superintendent Dr. Ann Riebock. 'She is an effective and visible leader with a focus on improving student achievement and a sound knowledge of building management. Her strong relationships with parents, students and staff members will be a definite asset to Lincoln and to the District.'
Shannon began her career in 1993 as a teacher. Before coming to District 41, she was a Student Service Coordinator and assistant to the principal at Graham Elementary School in Naperville District 204. She has a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Anderson University in South Carolina, a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University and has completed coursework toward her doctorate in Education. She replaces Laurie Campbell, who is now the District’s Human Resources Director.
The District is in the process of interviewing for several open positions, and within the next two weeks, hopes to announce an assistant principal at Lincoln to replace Shannon, at Hadley Junior High to replace Ryan Anderson, and at Benjamin Franklin to replace Marcia Opal. Ryan and Marcia have taken positions as principals in other districts. Also open is the position of Assistant Superintendent of Finance, Facilities and Operations. 'I am confident that we will start the school year with a strong team that is focused on children,' said Dr. Riebock.
