| Books & Burgers raises money for Math
 The October 23 'Books & Burgers' event raised more than $700 for books and materials to enhance Math lessons for all D41 students. Held at McDonald's on Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn, 28 D41 staff members volunteered to 'work' at McDonalds between 5-8 p.m., doing light tasks like greeting customers, wiping down tables and assisting order takers. In exchange, D41 received 20% of the proceeds from orders by D41 families during that time frame. Many D41 families came to enjoy a quick meal, visit with friends (and their teachers) and pal around with McDonald's characters Birdie and Grimace. Last year, three Books & Burger events provided funds for math, literacy and special education materials.
